Buying high-end hi-fi in Europe: warranty, shipping and returns
Buying an amplifier from a dealer in another EU country gives you the same protection as buying it in your own city, as long as the seller is a professional. Here is what you need to know.
Who sells to you
There are no private sellers on Hifi-Max: only professional dealers and distributors, each verified one by one before they can list.
The dealer or distributor sells to you and invoices you directly. Hifi-Max is the marketplace that brings you together.
The warranty
When you buy from a professional in the European Union you have a legal guarantee: if the equipment does not conform to what you were sold, the seller must repair it, replace it or refund you.
For new products the legal guarantee lasts at least two years across the EU, and three in Spain and Portugal.
For used products, such as an ex-demo unit, most countries allow a shorter period to be agreed, but never less than one year. Every Hifi-Max listing states how many months of warranty that unit has.
Shipping
The dealer ships it, to any of the 12 EU countries we deliver to: Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Denmark, Sweden and Finland. Before you buy, every listing shows the shipping cost to the dealer's country and to the others.
There are no customs or import duties between EU countries.
If you change your mind
If you are a consumer buying at a distance from a professional in the EU, you have 14 days from delivery to withdraw from the purchase, without giving a reason.
The seller can only charge you for the return shipping if they told you so before the purchase.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to buy hi-fi from a dealer in another EU country?
Yes, if the seller is a professional: you have the same legal guarantee and the same right of withdrawal as at home. On Hifi-Max every seller is a verified dealer or distributor.
Are there customs charges when buying within the EU?
No. There are no customs or import duties between EU countries.
How long is the warranty?
Every listing states it. The legal guarantee is at least two years for new products (three in Spain and Portugal); for used products a shorter period can be agreed, never less than one year.
Who invoices me?
The dealer or distributor that sells you the equipment, just as if you bought it in their shop.
